How to Check Dispensary Hours: A Quick Verification Guide
Learn how to check dispensary hours using the store's own site, live listings, and a quick call, plus why cannabis retail schedules shift often.
Most cannabis stores in the US open between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. local time. That is the short answer worth remembering. A smaller number open at 7 a.m. for medical patients, a handful never close at all, and some towns push the door open at 11 a.m. or noon because of local zoning. If you want one number to plan your morning around, use 9 a.m.
Two layers of rules decide when a dispensary can sell. The state sets the outer limits, and the city or county can tighten them further. A state might allow sales from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., while a specific city inside that state says nothing before 10 a.m. Store owners also pick their own hours inside the legal window, based on staffing and foot traffic.

That is why two shops twenty minutes apart can have different opening times. It is not a mistake on the menu page.
A shop that serves both markets may open its medical register before the recreational one. If you hold a valid medical card, ask whether there is an early window. In several states, medical sales face looser hour limits than adult-use sales, which is how 24-hour medical locations exist in places where recreational shops close by 10 p.m.
They exist, but they are the exception. Nevada is the best-known example, and a few medical markets in Oklahoma, Michigan, and Colorado allow round-the-clock sales with local approval. Do not assume the shop near you is one of them. If a listing claims 24 hours and the parking lot is empty at 3 a.m., trust the parking lot.
Most stores open seven days a week, including weekends, with the same start time. Major holidays are the exception. Many close on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and some run shorter hours on New Year's Day.
The closing side matters too. Regulators in most states require the last transaction 15 to 30 minutes before the posted close, so a 9 p.m. shop often stops selling at 8:45. Online orders placed near closing usually roll into the next morning's queue.
When in doubt, treat 9 a.m. as your planning number and confirm with the shop the same day.
