The short version

Cleaning a Puffco Peak comes down to four moves: take it apart, soak the glass and carb cap in isopropyl alcohol, swab the chamber and atomizer while they are still warm, and keep every drop of liquid away from the base. Plan on 10 to 15 minutes of hands-on time, plus an hour or so of drying before your next session.

How often to clean a Peak

The daily habit matters more than the deep clean. Swab the bowl with a dry cotton swab right after each dab, while the ceramic is still warm. Reclaim wipes off in one pass when it is warm and sets up like glue once it cools. A full teardown with alcohol once a week keeps flavor clean if you dab daily. With light use, every two weeks is plenty.

Step by step

  1. Let it cool. Give the device about five minutes. A warm chamber swabs clean, but a hot one burns your fingers and does not like cold alcohol hitting it.
  2. Pull the glass. Lift the glass top straight up off the base and set it aside.
  3. Remove the carb cap and its tether.
  4. Unscrew the atomizer from the base. Turn it counterclockwise, gently. Do not pry it.
  5. Soak the glass and carb cap. Submerge them fully in alcohol in a jar for 20 to 30 minutes, shaking the jar now and then. Add a pinch of coarse salt if the glass has visible buildup.
  6. Swab the chamber. Dip a cotton swab in alcohol, shake off the excess so it is damp and not dripping, and wipe the walls and floor of the bowl while it is still warm. Follow with a dry swab. One or two passes is enough.
  7. Wipe the base with a cloth that is barely dampened with alcohol, then dry it right away. Nothing should run into the seams, the button, or the charging port.
  8. Rinse the glass with warm water and let everything air dry. Alcohol has to evaporate completely. If you can still smell it, it is not dry yet.
  9. Reassemble and run one low-temp cycle before your next dab to burn off anything left behind.

The atomizer: check your chamber first

This is the step people get wrong. Puffco's care guidance is not the same for every chamber. Original Peak ceramic atomizers have long been soaked in alcohol by owners, while the newer 3D chambers are meant to be wiped, not submerged. Read the card or the care page that came with your chamber before you drop it in a jar. If you are unsure, wipe only. Soaking a chamber that is not built for it can push alcohol into the connections and cut its life short.

Never soak the base

The base holds the battery, the circuit board, and the heating contacts. Alcohol and electronics do not mix. Wipe it, never dunk it, and do not pour alcohol down the air path or into the threads. A damp cloth and a few seconds of attention is all the base ever needs.

Glass, water, and airflow

Fill the glass just above the percolation holes, not to the top. Overfilling is the most common reason people end up with a mouthful of water. After the alcohol soak, rinse with warm water, not hot. Going from cold glass to hot water, or the reverse, can crack it.

When the atomizer needs to go

Flavor turns metallic or burnt, vapor output drops, or you start seeing resistance errors and flashing lights. Visible chipping on the ceramic is another sign. Under heavy daily use, expect to replace the atomizer every four to eight weeks. Do not chase a dying chamber by cranking the temperature up, since that just burns your concentrate and shortens the base's life.

The two-minute habit that saves you the deep clean

Dry swab after every dab. Damp swab once a day or every few sessions. Deep clean weekly. Keep your dabs small enough to finish in one or two draws, because a half-burnt puddle is what turns into the reclaim you have to scrub out later. Do those three things and the weekly teardown stays a quick job instead of a rescue mission.
