What Is Full Melt Hash? Solventless Concentrate Guide
Full melt hash is a solventless concentrate made from intact trichome heads that melts clean with almost no residue. Here is how it is made, graded, and used.
Full melt hash is solventless ice water hash that liquefies when it hits heat and leaves behind little to no residue. When people talk about quality grades, they mean a star scale that runs from 1 to 6, where 6 star is the cleanest melt and 1 star goes in the kitchen. There is no lab standard for this. It is a performance grade, judged by how the hash behaves on a hot surface, not by THC percentage or a potency test.

Melt comes down to trichome heads, not plant matter. Whole intact heads, mostly in the 73 to 120 micron range, hold the resin and waxes that liquefy at dabbing temps. Once you drag in stalks, leaf bits, and broken heads, the resin stops flowing as one pool and starts to burn. That is the whole reason a 90 micron pull can hit 6 star while a 25 micron pull from the same wash lands at 3 star.
Run the test before you commit to a whole gram if you can. A shop or delivery service selling true full melt should not mind showing it. Ask what micron range it was pulled from and whether the material was fresh frozen or cured trim. Fresh frozen usually grades higher because the heads are intact and the resin has not oxidized.
Color is not the grade. Pale blonde hash can still leave sludge, and a slightly darker 5 star can melt cleaner than a bleached looking 3 star. Texture is not the grade either. Dry sandy hash and greasy putty hash can both be 6 star depending on the strain and how it was dried. Moisture is the one people miss. Hash that was not dried long enough will sizzle from water, not from waxes, and that sizzle gets misread as low quality.

Worth knowing too: full melt is meant to be dabbed, not pressed. Running 6 star through a rosin press still gives you great rosin, but you spent top grade money on something a 4 star would have handled. Save the best jar for the banger.
High grade hash is fragile. Heat, light, and air break down the terpenes that help it melt clean. Keep it in a sealed glass jar somewhere cool, around 60 to 65 F, and let it come to room temp before opening so condensation does not land on the resin. A 6 star jar can slide to 4 star behavior in a few weeks if it sits warm and open.
Buying online adds a step. Ask for a melt video, the micron range, and whether the batch was freeze dried or air dried. Sellers who know their hash will have those answers ready. If a listing only says full melt with no micron or melt test, treat it as a marketing word, not a grade.
