THCA diamonds are crystalline formations of tetrahydrocannabinolic acid. THCA is the acidic form of delta-9 THC. A growing cannabis plant makes THCA, not THC. Heat strips a carboxyl group from THCA and converts it to THC. That reaction is decarboxylation.

In raw form THCA does not activate CB1 receptors the way THC does, so swallowing a diamond does not produce a high. Dabbing heats the crystal past the decarboxylation point, and the vapor carries THC into the lungs.
How diamonds form
Most diamonds start as a hydrocarbon extract. The extractor runs cannabis with butane or propane, collects the crude oil, and seals it in a jar. Over days to weeks the THCA molecules stack into a lattice and separate from the liquid terpene fraction. Two parts result: hard crystals and a runny sauce.
Some producers grow the diamonds inside the sauce and sell both together. Others rinse the crystals and sell the sauce on its own. Solventless makers press rosin and separate the fractions with mechanical force. Diamond size runs from 1 mm to more than 5 mm.
Potency and lab testing
THCA diamond potency runs 90% to 99% THCA by weight. A certificate of analysis from an ISO 17025 lab lists THCA, delta-9 THC, terpenes, residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and mold. Ask for a batch-specific COA. A COA tied to a different batch proves nothing about the jar you bought.
Diamonds carry little flavor. Terpenes sit in the sauce, not in the crystal lattice.
How to use them
- Dab between 450 F and 550 F. Higher heat degrades terpenes and produces harsh vapor.
- Use a quartz banger or an e-nail with temperature control.
- Start with a small piece. A 20 mg crumb of 95% THCA delivers about 19 mg of THC after decarboxylation.
- Do not mix with alcohol, and do not drive afterward.
Storage
Keep diamonds in an airtight glass jar, away from light and heat. The sauce fraction oxidizes faster than the crystals. A cool dark drawer holds quality for months. Refrigeration adds moisture each time the jar opens.
Legal status in the US
The 2018 Farm Bill defined hemp as cannabis with delta-9 THC at or below 0.3% on a dry weight basis. THCA is not delta-9 THC, so hemp-derived THCA products sit in a gray area. Several states passed bans or limits on THCA in 2024 and 2025. Federal scheduling of THCA is not settled. Check your state law and the current federal position before you order.
