Cannabis Drive-Thru Near Me: Ultimate Buying Guide
Find the closest cannabis drive-thru with this comprehensive buying guide from top cannabis brands.
Short answer
Cannabis drive-thru and curbside pickup both let you buy weed without leaving your car. Drive-thru means you pull up to a window, show ID, pay, and take the bag. Curbside means you park in a reserved spot and a budtender walks the order out. Availability depends on state law, city rules, and the store license. Florida medical dispensaries run drive-thru windows. Colorado allows drive-through sales for medical patients. Michigan allows curbside. California has drive-thru retailers in a few cities. Call the store before you drive.
Difference between the two
- Drive-thru: engine on, lane moves, staff at a window. You order at the window or collect a pre-order.
- Curbside: you park, stay in the car, staff comes to you. Most stores require an online or phone order first.
- Both: no consumption on site, no leaving with more than the legal purchase limit.
What to bring
- Government photo ID with a birth date. Age 21 and older for adult-use sales.
- State medical card and patient number if the store sells medical cannabis only.
- Cash. Most dispensaries cannot take credit cards. Some take debit through a cashless ATM, and fees apply.
- Order confirmation on your phone if you pre-ordered.
- A car with a working window and space in the trunk or back seat.
How order-ahead works
Most menus let you place a pickup order, choose curbside at checkout, and enter a vehicle color and plate. The store sends a text when the order is packed. You park in the curbside spot, reply to the text, and wait. Staff check ID at the window, run payment, and hand over the bag. Hold time on a pre-order is often 2 to 4 hours, then the order goes back to inventory. Ask the store for its hold window.

State rules to check
Three items decide what you can do: license type, product type, and location. Some states allow drive-thru for medical cannabis only. Some ban drive-thru but allow curbside. Some allow both. Cities add limits on lanes, signage, and hours. Regulators publish the rules. A phone call to the store is faster than reading a statute.

Purchase limits still apply. A drive-thru window is a normal retail sale. The same per-customer, per-day limit applies.

What you cannot do
- Open the package or use cannabis in the car.
- Buy for someone who is not present with an ID.
- Idle in a curbside spot without an order.
- Park in a drive-thru lane and leave the car.
Finding one near you
Search dispensary menus and filter for drive-thru or curbside. Call the store and ask two questions: is the drive-thru lane open today, and does curbside require a pre-order. Check hours. Some lanes close an hour before the store does. Confirm the address, because drive-thru entrances sit on a different side of the building than the front door.
